His academic career is described in his curriculum vita).
Until recently, Bob served as President of the

In 2012–2013, he served as a member of the Board of Councilors of the USC University Club.
In the community, Bob was a member of a "Futures Council"
for the Covina-Valley Unified School
District. The council was a focus group dealing with issues such as school facilities and
student retention. In July 2012, he testifed at a public hearing of the
Covina City Council dealing with the city's
lighting district and a new property assessment. (There is even a
video recording on Vimeo of his appearance
before the city council.) Even though Bob voted for the proposal, it ultimately failed.
